DEATH: Carrie Peck, daughter of Lysander and Hildah Sargent was
DEATH: born in Potton, P.Q., January 22, 1852.
DEATH: She received her education in the Potton schools and
DEATH: married Daniel E. Aiken, also of Potton, December 25, 1872
DEATH: at the close of the Christmas tree entertainment at the
DEATH: Union Church of Dunkin, much to the surprise of the large
DEATH: gathering but having previously made known their intention
DEATH: to the minister, Rev. Arms.
DEATH: They went directly to Mrs. Aiken's girlhood home and there
DEATH: lived and raised a family of four children, Mina, Mrs. Carl
DEATH: J. Chaffee of West Somerville, Mass., Myrtle, Mrs. Philip
DEATH: I. Clark of North Troy, Clarence, who died at the age of 11
DEATH: years, and Clayton of Orleans.
DEATH: Mr. and Mrs. Aiken moved to North Troy six years ago and
DEATH: purchased their present home from Ansel Norris, who with
DEATH: his family moved to Massachusetts.
DEATH: Mrs. Aiken's health was excellent up to two years ago when
DEATH: she was ill a long time and in fact she never really
DEATH: regained her former strength. On Aug. 3rd she was taken
DEATH: suddenly worse and never left her bed. Her daughters Mrs.
DEATH: Chaffee and Mrs. Clark and husband Mr. Aiken have been in
DEATH: constant attendance up to her death which occurred Sept.
DEATH: 15th. Mr. Aiken, the two daughters and son, Clayton, being
DEATH: with her when she passed away.
DEATH: The funeral was held on Sunday. Prayer was offered at the
DEATH: house at one thirty and the service was at the Baptist
DEATH: Church, Rev. C.E. Gould officiating. The choir sang two
DEATH: hymns which were favorites of Mrs. Aiken's and the
DEATH: sentiment of which she lived daily.
DEATH: A large number of friends and neighbors from Dunkin,
DEATH: Mansonville and Highwater attended the funeral as well as
DEATH: town's people. The interment was at Dunkin. The many
DEATH: beautiful flowers showed the love and esteem in which Mrs.
DEATH: Aiken was held. The W.R.C. of which Mrs. Aiken was a
DEATH: member attended in a body. The bearers were her son,
DEATH: Clayton, two sons-in-law P.I. Clark and C. Chaffee. Dr.
DEATH: A.M. Buterfield, George Currier and a nephew Cortes Aiken
DEATH: of Richford. The sympathy of the entire community is
DEATH: extended to Mr. Aiken and family at this time. F.B.
DEATH: Hammond conducted the funeral.

DEATH: was in the Dunkin Cemetery. Thus another of Glen Sutton's
DEATH: most respected citizens is laid to rest.
