DEATH: Mansonville, Nov. 14 - Mrs. Mary Aiken died at the home of
DEATH: her daughter, Mrs. R.F. Cowan, in Mansonville, on November
DEATH: 5, after an illness of seven weeks. She was in her
DEATH: eighty-second year.
DEATH: Born in Potton on August 21, 1866 she was the last of
DEATH: nine children born to William Jersey and his wife, Philure
DEATH: Jenkins.
DEATH: After a teaching career of eight years in elementary
DEATH: schools in the Township of Potton, she was united in
DEATH: marriage to Alonzo Aiken, of Glen Sutton, on October 15th,
DEATH: 1893.
DEATH: She is survived by the three children born of this
DEATH: marriage, Edith, Mrs. R.F. Cowan, of Mansonville; Annie,
DEATH: Mrs. V.R. Doncaster, of Derby, Vt.; and Arthur Aiken, Sr.,
DEATH: of Mansonville.
DEATH: In 1919, they left their home in Glen Sutton and moved
DEATH: to Abercorn, where her husband predeceased her in August,
DEATH: 1923. The following year she came to Mansonville, where she
DEATH: spent the remainder of her life with her daughter, Mrs. R.F.
DEATH: Cowan.
DEATH: She also leaves to mourn her loss three step-children,
DEATH: Cortis Aiken, of Richford, Vt.; Ethel, widow of the late
DEATH: A.B. Bailey, of Mansonville; and Candace, Mrs. A.I. White,
DEATH: of Mansonville; twenty-five grandchildren and seventeen
DEATH: great-grandchildren.
DEATH: The funeral service was held from the Mansonville
DEATH: Baptist Church, of which she was a member, on Saturday,
DEATH: November 8th, at 2 p.m. Rev. John Champion officiated,
DEATH: assisted by Mr. Malcolm Galbraith, of the United Church,
DEATH: and Rev. E.F. Macklin, of St. Paul's Anglican Church.
DEATH: The bearers were five grandsons, Winston and Lawrence
DEATH: White, Arthur Aiken, Jr., Wayne and Otis Doncaster, and a
DEATH: grand-son-in-law, Berton Bailey. The floral tributes were
DEATH: many and beautiful, testifying to the esteem in which she
DEATH: was held. Interment was at Glen Sutton Cemetery, beside her
DEATH: late husband.

DEATH: Glen Sutton, Jan. 8 - Mrs. Eliphalet Dufur, who, as

DEATH: Sutton, May 9 -(Special) - Mr. Eliphalet Dufur, of Glen
DEATH: Sutton, died at his home on Friday, May 3rd, of stomach
DEATH: trouble, from which he had been a sufferer for some years.
DEATH: The late Mr. Dufur was a life-long resident of this town,
DEATH: having been born not far from Glen Sutton sixty-two years
DEATH: ago. His father, Mr. Eliphalet Dufur, Sr., predeceased him
DEATH: by a few years. It is a remarkable fact that the family of
DEATH: Mr. Dufur, Sr., furnished the United States five soldiers
DEATH: in the Civil War, one or two of the sons dying on the
DEATH: Southern battlefields.
DEATH: Deceased had a family of seven girls and one son, Mr. Denis
DEATH: Dufur, who lives on the old homestead. Three of the
DEATH: youngest daughters live at home, and one died a few years
DEATH: ago of consumption. The other three daughters are Mrs.
DEATH: Henry Wilson and Mrs. Gustus Brown, now living in
DEATH: Connecticut, and Mrs. C. Gibney, of Glen Sutton.
DEATH: The funeral took place at the Church of the Good Shepard on
DEATH: Sunday, May 5th, and was largely attended. Rev. J.M.
DEATH: Coffin conducted the services. The bearers were Messrs.
DEATH: Clark Jones, Nelson G. Davis, Abram Bryant and Silas
